Some people say, “Oh, God! I want to be blessed financially!”
yet they never sow a seed—at least not the right kind of seed. Hence,
they do not receive the right kind of harvest—certainly not the one they
so desperately need and desire.
Consider the farmer. He wants to
grow corn, but if the corn seed remains inside the bag in the barn, the
farmer can shout in the fields about a corn crop from sunup to sundown,
but until he plants actual corn seed, he will never reap a corn harvest.
You can say, “Oh, God, I need money! The rent is due. The baby needs shoes. And what about my breakthrough?” But if you haven’t sown financial seed, how can you expect a financial harvest?
If
you wanted to grow apples, would you plant cucumber seeds or pumpkin
seeds? You would not! So why do people expect to receive financial
increase when they purposely plant anything and everything but
what is needed? They will plant hope seed, shout seed, dance seed, and
even “claim it” seed! All of these are good things, but alone and
without the appropriate seed, they are unproductive.
For reaping
the most from sowing, we all can take advice from the farmer. He knows
that if he plants a little seed, he will reap a little crop. Therefore,
plant much seed—receive a BIG harvest. It is a law of nature.
This
is no radical concept. Not only is this a natural law, but it is also a
spiritual law. The Bible says that as long as the earth exists,
seed time and harvest time will remain. In fact, Genesis 8:22 (NIV) says, “seed time and harvest … will never cease.” Another spiritual law is: give and receive (Acts 20:35). Perhaps, you’ve heard it said as, “Have a need? Sow a seed!” It is as simple as that!
Again,
to reap a specific harvest, you must plant the corresponding seed. That
means in order to receive a money crop—you guessed it—you must plant
the “m” word. You must plant money seed! This is the missing link to
financial breakthrough, and it is the reason why so many Christians
remain in “hope so” stage concerning their finances.
Actually, for optimum results concerning your giving, you need to sow more than just money seed. You need to sow Word seed, too, by speaking it forth out of your mouth and into your heart. Without the Word of God, the money you sow does not have much of a future.
Also, recognize that the
Bible is dynamic! Its words are relevant for every condition and
experience known to man. The Bible is alive. The Bible is the Word of
God, and the Word of God is Jesus (John 1:14)!
Imagine that the
Bible is the ultimate feed store. The Bible is a book of seeds.
Remember the corresponding seed law discussed earlier? Well, if you are
in urgent need of a financial breakthrough, this is not the time to be
confessing only healing scriptures, or healing seed. There are
numerous verses throughout the Bible that relate to financial
prosperity. One of my favorites is: “Bring
ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine
house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not
open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there
shall not be room enough to receive it” (Malachi 3:10). Another is: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 1:2).
Friend, it is not God’s will for you to live in poverty and
experience shortage all the days of your life. It is also not God’s will
for His agenda of promoting the Gospel throughout the earth to be
hindered, because Christians are low on cash! However, none of this is
going to change until we realize that as Believers, we must
sow—give—plant! It is time to take authority over our finances and to
not be ruled and dominated by lack. To make this happen, we must operate
according to the rules that govern a harvest—the laws concerning giving and receiving.
Finally, let’s always ask God what he would have us to give, and be
willing to obey Him. And in appreciation of God and all He has done for
us through Christ, let’s sow to Him with thanksgiving. I believe, with
all my heart, that when you sow into the kingdom of God, you WILL receive a multiplied return. Also, how you give WILL determine your harvest. And Jesus WILL change your financial circumstances, if you let Him. Just do it.
