It is normal for us to love and being loved, and we always talk about love in different aspects.
There is love that exceeds all human love in God's love and that is what we are going to discuss today. Great Love of Christ.
Paul in the book of Ephesians chapter 3:14 - 19, he is praying a very significant prayer;
"For this cause i bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named. That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner Man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love.May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
In human point of view, we learn and understand things sensually, but for believers we understand things sensually and get revelation of the spiritual understanding that, can't be grasped by our senses.
To understand love one need to get the revelation of love
In any love there is intent of loving and extent of love. If i love you, you need to get inside the me to understand the intent of love.
If you don't know the intent of love soon or later it is going to put demand on you, because love is demanding in nature. Even in normal context lover needs to give something for the object to understand the extent of love, because what we offer as gift to our beloved one tells them our extent of love.
So to understand love of God, one needs to get revelation on the intent of God's love as it is not something we can understand sensually rather we grasp its meaning through spirit. That is why, Paul is praying for us today, that, we may understand Christ's love that is more than what we can grasp.
If you are reading carefully, you will understand that love is something you get from the Spirit and not from your sensual perception.
In a normal context, whenever a man loves a woman he has to give gift to express his love in action, but that is not enough as love is going to put demand on you, so if you don't have power to provide those demands your love is gonna fall short.
Another question you need to ask yourself is, do you have enough strength to love the object the same even if it is not loving me back.?
John 3:16, it says; "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"
Look into the verse above, Love comes first, God is loving the world out of its sinful nature, He knows world will take time to love him back, but see, He is loving us out of our sins and giving us a gift, very amazing gift... His only son to died, on the cross for the object which is not loving Him the same.
God has that, strength no matter how long it takes, He is there waiting for you to come to him, and because He loves you, He is patient enough, He is determined to wait for you. He has that power to convert supernatural to reality.
It is this love that gives Him distinction from all other gods as to understand his love needs His Spirit in us, and once you understand you will know him fully.
So it is love, that bring the fullness of God into our life. If love of God is not in you, then your Christian life is not complete and God is not fully in you.
That is why, the bible tells us to love our enemies, and to love our neighbors more than ourselves, because love open up the door for the fullness of God in our life.
