WHEN JESUS MOVES IN
Summary
The Word became flesh and dwelt on earth. Jesus is the face of grace; He is grace personified. Whenever Jesus
comes on the scene, people are healed, raised from the dead, and
delivered from bondage—He rearranges and changes things. He extends the love and grace of the Father despite our shortcomings. When He moves in, the glory of the Father is revealed.
- “In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself” (John 1:1, AMP).
- “The
Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw
the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a kind glory, like Father, like
Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish” (John 1:14, MSG).
- When
Jesus comes on the scene, the truth outweighs the facts. We can no
longer rely on what we see, but we must rely on what He says.
- For example, when a man named Lazarus was sick. Jesus said that his “sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God” He then raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:4).
- Jesus also raised a little girl
from the dead. He first put naysayers out of the house. Along with
those who laughed Him to scorn for stating the truth instead of the
facts (Mark 5:36-43).
- The Samaritan woman at the well
experienced the Word made flesh. Jesus openly communed with her even
though the Jews considered her “unclean” (John 4:11).
- When Jesus comes on the scene, grace and truth are revealed.
- Truth is revealed with Jesus in the midst. We can no longer hide behind self-righteousness (Matthew 7:1-6).
- Sometimes church people can be very judgmental.
- We have to examine ourselves and deal with our own issues before we examine the faults of others.
- If we are self-righteous, we are actually hypocritical.
- Jesus didn’t make people feel judged, despite their issues, when they were in His presence.
- Jesus
prayed that we would experience oneness with the Father just as He
has. He also prayed that we would come to know the Father’s love just
as He has (John 17:20-23).
- Jesus meets us where we are. He opens the door for us to share in the Father’s love.
- We should always thank God for the grace that He has placed on our lives through Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:4).
- We should set our affections on Him, and keep them set on Him. We will appear with Him in glory (Colossians 3:1-4).
- We can experience freedom because we have received the fullness of Him and His grace.
- “John bare witness
of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh
after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his
fulness have all we received, and grace for grace” (John 1:15, 16).
